Dairy Show a Huge Success!

The EKU Stateland Dairy Show was held Friday, November 16th. Students participating in the show were Kaitlyn Wooton, Raleigh Thacker, Jessica Morris, Ellie Pittman, Kim Patton, Alyssa Tinker, Sarah Rogers, Bobbi Brandenburg, Emily Shepard, Ashley Owens, Brianna Faulkner, Katie Murray, Alice Garrison, Katie Dihrkop, Caleb Clark, Eric Phelps, Stephannie Hammons, Mollie Borchers, Jennifer Bellaw, and  Jennifer Griebenow  Each student was responsible for the care, grooming, and halter breaking of a heifer. Each student was judged on his or her  ability to fit (groom) and show a heifer. The show was judged by Alta Mae Core, co-owner of Keightley-Core Jersey farm in Salvisa, KY.
 
Class winners were Caleb Clark, Eric Phelps, Ashley Owens, Jennifer Bellaw, Jennifer Griebenow, and Kaitlyn Wooton. Caleb Clark was Showmanship Champion. Eric Phelps received the Herdsman Award for doing the best job of taking care of his livestock, keeping the pens clean and neat, and working well with other students.
 
 The show was well attended by students' friends and family, as well as Agriculture faculty and staff members, Carla Hagan, Ed Fredrickson, and Rick Griebenow. The show would not have been possible without the help of Chad Powers, Matt Collins, Robby Estes, and Ray Marcum who worked long hours to get the barn ready for the show and assist students.
