2016 Farm Field Day to be held September 29th
Save the Date!
The 2016 Fall Field Day at EKU's Meadowbrook Farm will be on Thursday, September 29th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In addition, high school juniors and seniors will visit the farm for the educational event between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
This unique opportunity to directly observe a teaching production farm will be co-hosted by UK’s Madison County Cooperative Extension Service. A ribeye meal with sides will be served and prepared by the Madison County Beef Cattle Association. The program will include expert speakers from both EKU and UK to include the following: forage, beef, and small acreage.
Both walking and wagon tours will be available and students will be on hand to answer questions regarding the milking operation. Other topics include summer annual grazing options, fallen livestock composting, beef nutrition and reproduction, sheep production, horticulture and more.
EKU Stateland Dairy will display their milking operation in full production - live at 6:00 pm.
