EKU’s Collegiate Farm Bureau celebrated Kentucky agriculture at Eastern Kentucky University and helped to increase awareness of Farm Bureau and EKU’s Department of Agriculture by hosting Agriculture Celebration Day.

University Farms rolled out the red carpet for nearly 1,000 third graders from the Central Kentucky region last week with a 'Day at the Farm'. Given the number of visitors and high level of interest, the event took place at the Madison County Fairgrounds.

EKU's Meadowbrook Farm welcomed students from Kentucky's School for the Deaf FFA to "Ag Camp 2017". Campers toured the farm and learned about EKU's agriculture and horticulture programs.

Standing in the middle of the new beef handling facility at Eastern Kentucky University’s Meadowbrook Farm, Mark Deesing said he has seen “about a dozen” university-based beef cattle handling facilities designed by his renowned colleague, Temple Grandin.

“This one,” he said, “is the best of all.”

EKU's new state-of-the-art beef handling facility designed by Temple Grandin and her colleague, Mark Deesing, will be officially dedicated this week. The ceremony is set for Friday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at Meadowbrook Farm, followed by an open house and guided tours.
